I’ll mock it up. Show you what I got.

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

What a week! If you see any zombies roaming about on the third floor of Kwantlen campus, don’t be alarmed. They are most likely one of us 4th year GDMA’ers. Most likely.

Having 4 final projects due in 2 consecutive days is less fun than it sounds. I’m just happy we survived with minimal lasting emotional trauma. Just 3 more projects and 1 final presentation to go!

And despite all of the craziness, we set up shop at the rotunda to sell our goodies today. We met some really awesome people from the fashion and interior design department. And some of our own 3rd year GDMA’ers came out too!

Thanks for all of your support!

And I leave you with this: (via GDMA’s favorite 100%Y)

The Frostbites Cupcakery crew would like to thank all the twilight saga fans and the Oakridge Empire Theatres for helping us raise another $4oo+ towards the GDMA grad show. We started each screening with a quick announcement to the audience, and it seems there were always more cheers for Team Jacob! The sales reflected that too. Double chocolate and black forest sold more than the red velvet and strawberry vanilla.

agenda7

…because manufacturers have failed to install their hearts.

Thanks to all those who have supported me and Joann in our silly shenanigans. We have sold out all of the regular agendas, and only have a few more GDMA-specific ones left.

In case anyone is still interested, the GDMA-specific 2009-2010 agendas include:

  • graphic design resources (online tutorials, inspirational blogs, free downloads, art supply stores, print shops, etc.),
  • fall/spring schedule,
  • funny retro advertisements,
  • and interviews from Rick, Dale, Keith, Ken, Marge, Marcella, and Nick (advice, pet-peeves, hated fonts, etc.)!

We still have a few of the black and white swirly pattern and the leafy pattern agendas available. They are well-mannered and would love a good home.

They are all $20 each.

Please contact Joann Lee (Asian girl with a fierce strut,) or Peter Chu (Asian boy with a fierce strut) at peter_chu@shaw.ca for more info. Or you can just stop us in the hallways (in the midst of our fierce struts.)

Thank you!

tadaa

The Frostbites Cupcakery crew baked over a thousand itty bitty cupcakes for fall sample day today. It was our first time setting up shop at the Kwantlen rotunda and we didn’t know what to expect. We were there from 10am to 12pm (only two hours), and had over $350 in sales!

Everyone who tried our cupcakes loved them. And many were surprised to find out that they were eating vegan cupcakes.

Frostbites started off as a project in our Packaging Design class last year. Some of us genuinely enjoyed baking, we needed to fundraise for the grad show, and the bake sale concept seemed a little weak (frowned upon, even). So our solution was to throw in some good ol’ marketing to maximize the earning potential of the lowly bake sale concept.

So what would set us apart as a cupcake shop?

Vegan cupcakes. Yeah, that’s right. There are no egg and dairy products in any of our recipes. That gives us an ethical edge over most of the competition. Raising poultry and dairy cattle uses up a ton of resources. When we reduce our consumption of eggs and dairy, we reduce our carbon footprints. Eating cupcakes can be as environment-friendly as driving a hybrid car.

Organic Ingredients. All of our yummy little gems start off with organic unbleached flour and pure organic cane sugar. We do our best to source organic ingredients, and try to use local products whenever possible.

Everything is done from scratch. None of that gross boxed cake mixes you see them lazy folks use. If you’ve tried our cupcakes, I’m sure you’d taste all the love we’ve put into them.

Custom Orders. Too sweet? Not sweet enough? Want something that isn’t on our menu? Give us a call and we’ll work some magic for you. We can decorate our cupcakes to match your celebration’s theme, too.

All the money we make goes into the GDMA grad show fund. Show your support and order from us for your next event or celebration
:)
